Plant Operations Manager
Metals USA -- has an immediate opening for a Plant Operations Manager, in our Tifton, GA facility. The Plant Operations Manager plans and directs operations for a functional area that includes multiple departments and shifts for a Steel Processing Service Center and maintains "on-time" Customer Order processing and deliveries.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the daily operations in of the following areas: production, material handling, production control, inventory, scheduling, and transportation
- Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and process sequences to meet production and safety goals
- Routinely inspects production areas and monitors worker activities to proactively address safety risks and operational standards
- Makes decisions or recommendations regarding manpower needs, hiring and termination decisions
- Analyzes specifications, blueprints, work orders, inventory/production control reports to determine production requirements and schedules
- Initiates processes to improve efficiency and safety
- Coordinates operations and activities within and/or between departments
- Determines training needs of staff and assigns less experienced employees to train with more experienced employees
- Communicates company policies and procedures

Qualifications:
- Minimum four (4) years' experience in a steel service center management or supervisory role and basic knowledge of planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Reading and writing comprehension in English (to read customer drawings or sketches, instructions, tickets, safety, and policies manuals)
- Measuring and arithmetic skills (read tape measure to 1/16 of an inch and check parts for correct dimensions)
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word consistently and knowledge of operating a printer and fax machine.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
