What are the responsibilities and job description for the SMVF Youth, Family, & Community Advocate position at MET Opportunities?
Military experience required.
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Health, Psychology, or a related field is recommended. An HS diploma/GED is required. Must have ties to service member families.
Must pass a criminal background check and is subject to the agency’s drug and alcohol testing program.
Extensive travel required in the area; must be able to travel outside the project area as assigned.
Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record, as approved by the agency’s vehicle insurance carrier.
Employee must have an account with a financial institution that can process financial transactions through MET’s electronic payroll system.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer functions.
Maintain a system to assure that the funded enrollment levels are continuously monitored and maintained.
Ensure that recruitment involves those families that are most in need of SMVF services, including previously underserved populations in the assigned service area.
Assist with the establishment and updating of MOU’s with community organizations along with the Resource Network Directory.
Facilitate group activities, program overviews, and assessments.
Participate in staff meetings, case reviews and supervised coaching.
Maintain and submit in a timely manner all required program documentation.
Locate and maintain professional relationships with service providers and community partners within the project area and surrounding communities.
Identify human services available to parents and children across the county.
Provide training to parents and staff using outside sources as appropriate.
Conduct extensive outreach efforts and serve as an advocate for enrolled families and children.
Provide youth supportive services.
Maximize community outreach opportunities to allow service families to learn about the program.
Recruit community partners to participate in coalition efforts.
Participate in continuous quality improvement.
Report to work at scheduled time and maintain good attendance. Perform all duties in a safe, timely, and professional manner. Participate with a positive attitude and behavior in all program activities.
Maintain confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
Perform all other duties as outlined by supervisor.
