Housekeeper

Job Summary: 

Works in offices, common spaces and resident rooms. Keeps the facility in a sanitary, orderly, safe, attractive condition and in compliance with established standards, while using proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Follows cleaning schedule as outlined. 

  • Cleans Floors (dry mops, wet mops, vacuums, disinfects when necessary).  Performs Emergency housekeeping where accidents occur 

  • Hallway cleaning - cleans movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures; dusts, spot cleans, disinfects, polishes, cleans ledges, pictures, railings, shelves, vents, fire doors, tables, chairs, lamps, vinyl and upholstered furniture, etc 

• Inspects furnishings for wear and defects, and rearranges furniture as directed 

• Cleans and sanitizes public restrooms.  Replaces paper supplies 

• Reports all problems and equipment failure to the Environmental Services Manager, and fills out a maintenance request slip when any repairs are needed in the work area 

• Follow proper procedures and promote safe work practices in order to maintain a safe working environment such as using wet floor signs, and using rubber gloves when using strong chemicals.  Reports safety hazards such as rugs that skid, overloaded wall plugs and frayed cords to the Environmental Services Manager 

• Cleans assigned offices and lounges, empties trash and recyclables, dusts and polishes furniture  Vacuums upholstered furniture and carpets.  Keeps all glass windows clean, wipes doors, door frames, walls and sills 

• Must perform work with quality and efficiency assuring that work is completed by the end of the shift 

• Maintains confidentiality regarding resident information as well as other information pertaining to the business of Messiah Lifeways 

• Works cooperatively and productively with others, including residents, families, and other employees.  Willingness to work under direction and supervision 

• Follows emergency procedures and responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies ensuring the safety of the residents and staff 

• It is the responsibility of all Messiah Lifeways employees to be mindful of safety when performing duties.  This is to include performing tasks in a safe manner, as well as being mindful of potential safety issues when traveling throughout the campus.  If any unsafe conditions are discovered, this shall be reported to the Office of Safety and Security immediately, and actions shall be taken to reduce the possibility of injury until a permanent solution can be applied  

• Additional duties and tasks as assigned 

• Assumes accountability for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the assigned duties and within his or her span of control 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Ability to provide routine cleaning services in an efficient and professional manner 

Education/Experience: 

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
