    Job Title:
    Working Supervisor, Custodial
    Pay Program: Support Staff, Non-Exempt
    Pay Range: Range 18 $29.35 - $32.60
    Work Year: Year-Round (260 Days / 8 Hours) Hours: 2:45pm - 11:15pm
    Reports to: Custodial Coordinator
    Direct Reports: This position has supervisory responsibilities.
    Summary
    Operating under the general supervision of the Custodial Coordinator, this position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of custodial services across the District, ensuring clean, safe, and well-maintained facilities for students, staff, and the community. This role provides direct supervision and support to custodial staff, coordinates interdepartmental custodial needs, and ensures consistent adherence to quality standards and safety protocols. The position also contributes to project planning and supports equipment and gym floor maintenance efforts in collaboration with specialized staff. This position may work alone in the building during night shifts, performing security checks, cleaning and maintenance.

    Job Responsibility Description

    1. Custodial Staff Supervision and Management
    • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate custodial staff to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely completion of cleaning and maintenance duties.
    • Manage hiring, onboarding, daily assignments, and work schedules, in collaboration with Custodial Leads as needed.
    • Oversee employee performance management, including conducting evaluations, providing coaching, issuing disciplinary action, and supporting terminations, in alignment with district policies.
    • Respond promptly to custodial service calls and on-site emergencies during assigned shifts.

    2. Facility Inspections and Quality Assurance
    • Conduct regular walkthroughs and inspections of district facilities to monitor cleanliness, safety, and compliance with established custodial standards and protocols.
    • Identify areas for improvement and follow up on corrective actions.

    3. Project Coordination and Interdepartmental Collaboration
    • Partner with other departments to support custodial needs for facility projects, school events, and work orders.
    • Provide input on planning, timelines and budgeting for custodial aspects of facility projects.

    4. Custodial Equipment and Gym Floor Maintenance Support
    • Collaborate with the Custodial Equipment Repair and Gym Floor Specialist to assist in maintaining and repairing custodial equipment and gym floors.

    5. Other Duties
    • Additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities may be assigned as needed/requested.

    Education and Experience

    Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District.
    • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school required
    • Minimum of five years of experience in custodial, maintenance, or related trades required
    • Preference given for prior supervisory experience
    • Preference given for administrative experience, such as bookkeeping, budgeting, purchasing

    Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
    • Criminal background check required for hire
    • Valid Colorado driver's license
    • Submit a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and meet the Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CSDSIP) insurability standards at the time of hire and throughout employment
    • Obtain and maintain the District's Small Vehicle Permit within 60 days of hire
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds - Lift test required at time of hire
    • Valid Colorado driver's license with minimum of CDL Class A endorsement

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Operating knowledge of equipment used in custodial equipment including gym floor applicator, floor buffer, water vacuum, extractor, and auto scrubbers
    • Ability to interpret and implement OSHA's Safety & Data Sheet protocols and regulations
    • Thorough understanding of custodial methods, processes, procedures, chemicals, and equipment
    • Familiarity with building operations, district scheduling systems and security procedures
    • Ability to be adaptable and flexible with collaborative critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
    • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide support in a professional and approachable manner
    • Commitment to handling sensitive and confidential information with the highest ethical standards
    • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff and various stakeholders
    • Ability to lead, communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
    • Ability to follow applicable federal, state, local laws and Board of Education policies, in addition to building and department procedures
    • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and frequent interruptions in a timely manner
    • Ability to use de-escalation skills to diffuse and manage stressful and fluid situations
    • Ability to be adaptable and flexible with collaborative critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
    • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide support in a professional and approachable manner
    • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals, Microsoft Office Suite, as well as typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machine, email, etc.
    • Strong skills in basic math, accounting, inventory controls and other database management tools
    • Well-developed writing, scheduling, organizational, planning and reporting skills
