    Executive Director - D51 Foundation

    Job Summary:
    The Executive Director serves as the chief executive and strategic leader of the D51 Foundation, responsible for advancing the Foundation's mission to support students, educators, and schools through fundraising, community partnerships, and program development. The Executive Director oversees all operations, leads fundraising initiatives, manages events and grants, and cultivates relationships with donors, businesses, and community stakeholders. This role requires a highly organized, visionary-fundraiser and community connector who can execute a complex annual calendar of events and initiatives while maintaining a strong vision for growth and sustainability.

    1. Strategic Leadership & Organizational Management:
    Lead implementation of the Foundation's strategic plan and annual goals
    • Partner with the Board of Directors to guide vision, priorities, and governance
    • Partner with D51 Leadership to ensure alignment and support of D51 priorities
    • Prepare and present reports, annual budgets, and impact data
    • Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations (e.g., Secretary of State filings, IRS reporting, Guidestar updates)
    • Oversee financial management, including fund transfers, endowment contributions, and grant allocations

    2. Fundraising & Development:
    • Plan and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including:
      • Annual campaigns
      • Sponsorship development
      • Major donor cultivation and stewardship
    • Manage and grow relationships with community partners, businesses, and donors
    • Oversee online giving campaigns, direct mail efforts, and donor communications
    • Coordinate participation in community giving initiatives (e.g., United Way, Colorado Gives)
    • Develop promotional materials including newsletters, videos, and impact reports

    3. Event Planning & Execution:
    • Lead all aspects of major Foundation events, including:
    • White Iced Celebration (signature annual fundraiser)
    • Ambassador meetings (fall, winter)
    • JOY Celebration and community engagement events
    • Teacher appreciation campaigns (e.g., Paper Doll promotion)
    • Annual Retreat and strategic planning sessions

    Responsibilities include:
    • Sponsorship acquisition and fulfillment
    • Event logistics (venues, vendors, catering, entertainment)
    • Marketing and promotion (press releases, social media, advertising)
    • Volunteer coordination
    • Silent auction planning and execution

    4. Grant Program Management:

    Oversee development, promotion, and administration of all Foundation grant programs,
    including:
    • Professional Learning Grants
    • Technology & Innovation Grants
    • Student & Staff Wellness Grants
    • Bloom Where You Are Planted Grants

    Key duties:
    • Manage application cycles and review processes
    • Coordinate selection committees and board involvement
    • Publicize opportunities and award recipients
    • Track and report impact of funded programs

    5. Community Engagement & Partnerships:
    • Serve as the primary ambassador of the Foundation
    • Build and maintain partnerships with:
      • School district leadership and staff
      • Local businesses and sponsors
      • Civic organizations (Rotary, Chamber, etc.)
      • Media outlets
    • Represent the Foundation at community events, presentations, and public forums
    • Support district initiatives and strategic priorities through collaboration

    6. Marketing, Communications & Public Relations:
    • Oversee all communications including:
      • Monthly/quarterly newsletters
      • Social media campaigns
      • Press releases and media relations
      • Annual report and impact infographic
    • Promote fundraising campaigns, events, and grant opportunities
    • Maintain and update the Foundation website and branding

    7. Board Relations & Volunteer Management:
    • Coordinate Board of Directors meetings and communications
    • Recruit, engage, and support board members
    • Facilitate board participation in fundraising, grant review, and events
    • Manage volunteer engagement for events and initiatives

    8. Annual Operations & Planning:
    • Develop and manage an annual calendar of activities, events, and campaigns
    • Coordinate key yearly initiatives, including:
      • Back-to-school outreach and staff welcome events
      • Fundraising campaigns and sponsorship cycles
      • Teacher appreciation efforts
      • Annual reporting and budgeting processes
    • Ensure timely execution of recurring deliverables across all months

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
    • 2-4 Years experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, or community development
    • Proven success in event planning and donor engagement
    • Demonstrated experience in organizational and project management skills
    • Excellent communication and public speaking abilities
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Experience working with boards and volunteers

    Working Conditions:
