Position Description
Responsible for ensuring that care delivery is consistent with the missions and policies of the company and in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations and licensing requirements. Responsible for the overall operations, integration, coordination and direction of nursing care during assigned shift; includes mentoring and educating nursing personnel, working with physicians and other medical professionals. This position is "on the floor" and consists of 32-36 hours weekly.
Principal Responsibilities
Ensures delivery of high-quality, positive clinical outcomes, and resident/family satisfaction during supervisory shift.
Serves as a resource to all staff within the facility regarding the quality of services provided.
Demonstrates the ability to administer medications and treatment timely and according to facility policy; Demonstrates ability to receive, transcribe, and carry out physician orders, if allowed by Nurse Practice Act.
Stays and works beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet state staffing requirements and/or needs of residents.
Ensures resident care assignments are consistent with staff competencies, scope of practice and the needs of the residents.
Ensures Point Click Care (PCC) is utilized according the company process.
Ensures that physician orders are followed as prescribed.
Oversees medication management to ensure adequate supplies and that all medications are handled in accordance with company policy.
Ensures that resident's attending physician and family or responsible party are promptly notified of any significant change in the resident's health condition.
Ensures communication between licensed nursing staff and CNAs during and between shifts.
Participates in shift-to-shift communication between incoming and outgoing nursing staff.
Customer Service Responsibilities
Models customer service principals throughout the center and promotes appreciation of our customer’s needs.
Treats residents, residents’ family members, visitors and fellow employees with courtesy, respect, and dignity.
Presents professional image through appearance, behavior and speech.
Explains procedures to residents before administering services.
Qualifications
Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program and licensed in the state of Kansas or a multi-state license
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.
