What You’ll Do
- Educate & Empower: Teach patients insulin self-administration, glucose monitoring, and use of glucose pumps.
- Support Lifestyle Change: Provide guidance on medications, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Lead Programs: Deliver DSME curriculum aligned with American Diabetes Association (ADA) standards and current best practices.
- Collaborate: Work closely with multidisciplinary providers to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Improve Outcomes: Collect and validate DSME program data to enhance effectiveness and patient success.
- Stay Current: Act as a resource for updated diabetes education and continuously refine program content.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, including teaching in a specialty area.
- Experience in outpatient care and working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong critical thinking and clinical competence.
- Current RN license in Maryland OR Nurse Multi-State Compact license with “Compact” or “Multi-State Privilege” designation.
- Certification in area of specialty required.
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) credential preferred, or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Familiarity with CPT/ICD coding and ADA guidelines for outpatient diabetes education.
- Strong documentation and continuing education record.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to teach, motivate, and inspire patients.
