Job Title: Senior Cost Estimator
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid)
Contract duration: 7 Month contract with potential for extension or conversion
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Preconstruction Estimator to support capital project planning and delivery across a diverse portfolio of building and civil construction projects. This role is responsible for developing accurate and detailed cost estimates throughout all project phases, supporting procurement and alternative delivery methods, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure reliable capital cost planning and execution. The position requires strong technical estimating expertise, sound judgment in construction means and methods, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
· Develop comprehensive capital cost estimates across all phases of design and construction
· Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and work breakdown structures based on scope documents
· Review, analyze, and validate contractor proposals and pricing for accuracy and compliance
· Evaluate and process change order requests, ensuring alignment with scope and contract requirements
· Support alternative delivery procurement processes, including design-build and other collaborative delivery methods
· Interface with clients and project stakeholders to present and defend capital cost estimates
· Apply construction means and methods to ensure estimates reflect practical field execution
· Calculate indirect costs including field supervision, general conditions, and owner-related costs
· Maintain organized estimating files, cost databases, and project documentation
· Participate in project meetings and coordination sessions as required
· Support contract teams in developing statements of work for subcontractors and vendors
· Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within required deadlines
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or construction education preferred
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in construction estimating (building and/or civil projects)
- Strong understanding of construction cost estimating across multiple project phases
- Experience with alternative delivery procurement methods (design-build, CM/GC, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with estimating software such as Sage Timberline, MII, Bluebeam; HeavyBid experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of cost, risk, and schedule interrelationships
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documentation accurately
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
- Willingness to travel minimally as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CEP, CCP, PMP, or CCM
- Background in general contracting or heavy civil construction strongly preferred
