Job Title: Mechanical Engineer 2
Location: Decatur, IL – Onsite
Contract duration: 12 Month contract with potential for extension or conversion
Job Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to support machine configuration and integration efforts for complex heavy equipment platforms. This role focuses on maintaining overall machine layouts, managing bill of materials (BOM) structures, and ensuring design integrity through engineering change processes. The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure cohesive and error-free product configurations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage overall machine layout and configuration for equipment platforms
- Review engineering change notices within Teamcenter and ensure accuracy and completeness
- Evaluate proposed design changes for compatibility with existing machine architecture
- Maintain and update machine-level CAD models using CREO
- Ensure BOM structures are accurate and aligned with design updates
- Participate in configuration reviews within global engineering change processes
- Collaborate closely with platform leads, system design engineers, and downstream teams (manufacturing, supply chain)
- Support design integration efforts across multiple equipment platforms
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and product quality
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience
- Proficiency in CREO for 3D modeling and design manipulation
- Experience working with Teamcenter or similar PLM systems
- Strong understanding of engineering change management processes
- Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with machine-level design integration, particularly in heavy equipment or similar industries
- Familiarity with configuration management and BOM maintenance
- Exposure to large-scale mechanical systems or product platforms
Soft Skills
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Effective communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured environment
