Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of manufacturing or assembly engineering experience to join our team onsite in Pontiac, IL. In this role, you will provide technical expertise across production, cost, quality, and safety compliance for the assembly of fuel injectors. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot assembly equipment, support process improvements, and develop both manufacturing and assembly processes, including APQP elements such as Process Flows, Control Plans, and PFMEAs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including quality, manufacturing engineering, and operations to ensure best-in-class processes and risk mitigation for fuel systems. This is a full-time, onsite, 12-month assignment with exposure to complex manufacturing processes, hands-on problem-solving, and opportunities to contribute to world-class process development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise to support production, quality, cost, and safety compliance for manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Troubleshoot assembly equipment and resolve issues affecting production.
- Assist in process improvements to optimize current manufacturing and assembly workflows.
- Analyze first-pass test failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop, create, and maintain all APQP elements, including Process Flow, Control Plan, and PFMEA.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality, operations, and manufacturing engineering to ensure smooth process execution.
- Facilitate and host cross-functional meetings, both in-person and virtual, to communicate process changes and improvements.
- Manage priorities across multiple projects while ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Document and communicate technical findings, recommendations, and process changes effectively.
Basic Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing or assembly engineering.
- Experience supporting complex manufacturing processes, troubleshooting assembly equipment, and implementing process improvements.
- Previous roles such as Manufacturing Engineer or Assembly Engineer are considered relevant experience.
- Internship experience may be considered toward total experience.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in APQP elements, including Process Flow, Control Plan, and PFMEA.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, including assembly and test operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to facilitate and host cross-functional meetings (in-person and virtual).
- Strong project management skills to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across multiple teams.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work onsite full-time.
- Ability to analyze issues, identify solutions, and implement improvements in manufacturing processes.
