Job Title: Design Engineer 2
Location: Lafayette, IN
Contract duration: 12 Month contract with potential for extension or conversion
Job Summary
We are seeking a Design Engineer 2 to support the maintenance and continuous improvement of a large marine engine platform within a leading industrial engineering environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience with complex engine systems while working alongside cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, production-focused setting. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting current product initiatives, including root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and change management from release through production. You will play a key role in resolving field and factory issues, managing bill of material configurations, and contributing to cost reduction and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) efforts.
Responsibilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
~2 years of engineering experience (internships accepted)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Internship or experience in engineering environments
Exposure to:
Engine systems (diesel or gas)
Component design or system integration
CPI or New Product Introduction (NPI) processes
Experience working in a large OEM or manufacturing environment
