Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Support students with disabilities, specifically those with Emotional Disturbance by providing targeted instructional assistance.
- Use effective behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and classroom safety.
- Facilitate communication with students using Love & Logic
- Help prepare instructional materials and adapt curriculum content for diverse learners, including literacy and math activities.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, community outings, lunch, and transitions to ensure a safe and engaging environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and specialists on lesson planning, classroom management techniques, and progress monitoring.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in K-8 education or classrooms for students with disabilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of special education practices, including IEP development and implementation.
- Familiarity with teaching methods such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a plus.
- Experience working with individuals who have ED, ADHD, or developmental disabilities is desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior positively and constructively.
- Certification or coursework in deaf education or literacy education is advantageous.
