Charge Nurse - Clinical Decision Unit

Role Overview: The RN Charge Nurse provides leadership and clinical expertise during their shift, coordinating staffing and resources to ensure safe, efficient patient care. They act as a clinical support for staff, foster professionalism, and ensure adherence to policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess physical, social, and psychological patient status collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
• Develop and adjust individualized care plans involving patients, families, and physicians.
• Delegate and coordinate care, manage resources, and set priorities for patient delivery.
• Evaluate patient responses, revise care plans, and document accurately within legal and ethical standards.
• Manage staffing needs, control overtime, and lead operational and clinical team functions.
• Mediates conflicts, enforces policies, and activates emergency protocols when necessary.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and completes necessary training.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills: Current RN license, BLS certification, relevant unit-specific certifications, and clinical experience in the assigned area. Leadership, assessment, planning, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills are essential. BSN required within four years if not already obtained.

Physical Requirements: Ability to see, hear, communicate effectively, manipulate equipment, lift, walk, stand for extended periods, and operate vehicles if needed.
