Position Summary: Responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks and responding to work orders submitted from various people throughout the District. Supervise the maintenance and custodial departments.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in Asbestos Awareness Program
Experience
- Five plus years of job-related experience.
- Prior supervisory/managerial experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain safe district buildings and grounds to meet student and staff needs, and comply with legal regulations and district policies
- Manage maintenance & custodial staff, recommend new hires, and evaluate staff
- Manage capital fund projects by coordinating with architects, engineers, and construction vendors to ensure that bids and work are completed in a timely, quality manner within budget and approved specifications and in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Reviews and approves bid specifications, and reviews and approves bid openings & acceptance
- Maintains replacement schedules for recurring capital items, including roofing, HVAC, asphalt, and facilities vehicles for up to 20 years in the future
- Review and analyze contracts/maintenance agreements, and manage contractors for maintenance services
- Manage maintenance work order system priorities to optimize effective work order completion, and provide reports for key benchmark work order statistics
- Communicate bid presentations and capital project status updates to the Board of Education
- Communicate and coordinate work updates with all management levels including principals, district administration, and the Superintendent
- Develop feasibility assessments for work requests, building expansions and remodeling
- Submit and manage the department budget and utilize funds efficiently and effectively
- Inspect systems, equipment and grounds to ensure proper functioning and conditions
- Research and evaluate new technology for the maintenance and custodial staff
- Chairs the Facilities Committee, member of the Policy Committee
- Other duties as deemed reasonable by your manager
