Head Groundskeeper – Facilities Department

12 Month Position

2026-2027 School Year

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for supervising and participating in the maintenance of District grounds.  Participates in the employee selection process and assists in training new employees.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Requires 2 to 5 years of job-related prior experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Requires a Commercial Driver’s License.
• Requires completion of Asbestos Awareness Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned

• Directs and distributes labor assignments to the groundskeepers.
• Evaluates conditions of District grounds and makes recommendations for improvements.
• Participates in the employee selection process.
• Oversees and participates in the preparation of athletic fields and playgrounds.
• Coordinates and participates in the removal of snow and ice.
• Trains new employees or delegates training duties to other crew members and assists in evaluating performance.
• Safely maintains and ensures the beauty of the grounds including cutting grass, controlling weeds, trimming, landscaping and caring for plants, trees and shrubs.
• Hauls dirt, sand, gravel and mulch.
• Operates and maintains grounds maintenance equipment and ensures its safety.
• Moves heavy objects and equipment.
• Repairs fences.
• Repairs and installs asphalt and concrete as needed.
• Coordinates groundskeeping and related projects within the District.
• Assists other maintenance personnel as needed.
• Serves as a substitute custodian as needed.

COMPENSATION FOR EXPERIENCE IS CONSIDERED, 2025-2026 Classified Salary Schedule
