Business Development Director US – AI Health Tech (US Expansion)
Location: East Coast US - Remote, must be based in East Coast.

A European AI-driven health-tech company, backed by a recent major funding round and their first US investor, is now embarking on a critical phase of growth: expanding into the US market.
Their advanced AI platform is already used by leading pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic institutions across Europe, providing transformative insights that accelerate research and development.
They are now seeking an entrepreneurial Business Development Director to lead their US expansion. As the company’s first US commercial hire, you will be responsible for building new partnerships, growing revenue, and laying the foundation for a dedicated US business development team. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on independence, strategy, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead market entry in the US, driving business development strategy and execution.
- Identify, target, and engage new clients across pharma, biotech, and academia.
- Develop and manage strong client relationships, selling into R&D, clinical, and commercial functions.
- Drive the full sales cycle — from lead generation and pipeline management to contract negotiation and closing deals.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and events, building visibility and credibility in the US market.
- Collaborate with the European leadership team (CEO & CBO) to align US growth strategy with global objectives.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead the future US business development team.
- Provide market intelligence and feedback on US trends, competitors, and client needs to influence strategy and product positioning.
Requirements
- 5–10 years’ business development experience in life sciences (pharma, biotech, CRO, or consultancy).
- Proven track record of selling to multiple stakeholders, ideally across clinical, R&D, and academic functions.
- Strong existing network within the life sciences sector in the US.
- Scientific background/degree (mandatory).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
- Management experience required (team leadership or hiring responsibility).
- It would be preferred if you have experience selling software or digital/ AI platforms; background in CRO/consultancy.
