Our client is a national leader in mission-driven staffing, known for advancing workforce equity and transforming careers. As we accelerate our growth, we’re hiring a hands-on Controller to lead our accounting function, drive operational excellence, and bring discipline to our high-performing remote team.
What You Will Do
- Own day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, invoicing, financial reporting, audit).
- Build and enforce process cadence for a fully remote accounting team (on camera 80% ).
- Maintain the integrity of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and staffing industry best practices.
- Manage deferred revenue schedules, cash flow, and oversee monthly/quarterly/year-end closes.
- Integrate new acquisitions and support the launch of new business lines (e.g., property management division).
- Partner with compliance, sales, and operations teams on customer set-up, invoicing, and regulatory matters.
- Mentor, manage, and develop a Senior Accountant direct report.
- Drive dashboard/reporting improvements; leverage technology and AI tools where possible.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years’ experience in a financial leadership role in staffing or adjacent services sector (required).
- Demonstrated success leading accounting teams in a remote, deadline-driven environment.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, bill.com (AP), and Paycor (payroll).
- Highly process-oriented with a passion for operational discipline and continuous improvement.
- Hands-on, “working Controller” mentality—comfortable rolling up sleeves.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; professional remote “presence.”
- Experience with M&A integration and/or supporting new business lines a plus.
- Not a fit for those seeking work-from-home flexibility for childcare/personal distractions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting (CPA preferred).
- Extensive QuickBooks Online and Excel experience (pivot tables, modeling).
- Proven ability to manage and mentor staff in a high-volume, high-accountability environment.
- Experience in multi-entity and multi-state operations is a plus.

- $130K–$150K base salary (firm cap, targeting candidates comfortable in range for two years).
- Annual bonus (up to $12K, based on gross profit performance, paid as a year-end true-up).
