A growing community hospital system in southern Louisiana is seeking a full-time Mental Health Therapist (LCSW or LPC) to provide school-based counseling services for children and adolescents within a local school system.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a community-focused setting while working alongside an expanding behavioral health team. Services are provided primarily onsite within schools, with additional support through clinic and mobile-based behavioral health services as needed.
The organization recently expanded its behavioral health program and is continuing to invest in mental health access for underserved pediatric populations. Providers work collaboratively with school staff, medical providers, behavioral health leadership, and community resources to support students and families throughout the region.
Position Highlights
- Monday–Friday daytime schedule
- Primarily school-based counseling role
- No weekends
- Mix of individual counseling, crisis intervention, and care coordination
- Opportunity to work with children and adolescents ages 5–21
- Collaborative behavioral health environment
- Rural community setting approximately 30 minutes from Baton Rouge
Responsibilities
- Psychosocial assessments
- Individual and group therapy
- Crisis intervention and treatment planning
- Coordination with schools, families, and outside agencies
- Participation in case management meetings and educational support initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Louisiana LCSW or LPC license required
- Minimum 2 years of behavioral health counseling experience
- Experience with children/adolescents required
- School-based therapy experience preferred
- LMSW and PLPC candidates cannot be considered
