Director, Patient Financial Services
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Fully Onsite)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $135,000 – $180,000 (Commensurate with experience)
Position Overview
Are you a strategic leader ready to revitalize a Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) department? Our hospital system is seeking a Director of Patient Financial Services to lead our onsite team in Los Angeles. This is a pivotal role for a candidate who thrives on operational transformation. With a newly appointed leadership team and a unified vision for growth, you will have the autonomy and support to rebuild workflows, optimize charge integrity, and drive fiscal health for a community-focused medical center.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational & Staff Leadership: Direct daily workflows and departmental assignments. Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, conduct performance evaluations, and mentor the patient access and collections teams to foster professional growth.
- Revenue Integrity & Charge Management: Provide high-level oversight of the Charge Master (CDM) and charge capture processes. Stay abreast of regulatory updates to ensure billing accuracy and maximum reimbursement.
- Financial Analysis & A/R Oversight: Manage the month-end closing process, including detailed accounts receivable analysis, accrual assessments, and the development of cost-effective strategies to maintain the facility's financial health.
- Claims & Collections Management: Supervise the collections lifecycle, review high-complexity accounts, manage denials and appeals, and validate account adjustments against managed care contracts.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all operations align with healthcare ethics and corporate compliance standards. Monitor staff productivity to ensure both quality and quantity benchmarks are consistently met.
- Admitting & Patient Access: Oversee all admitting functions and operations, ensuring a seamless transition from patient entry to final payment.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in hospital-based financial operations, including specialized knowledge of Medical Records, Coding, Billing, and Collections.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree OR equivalent hospital leadership experience.
- Labor Relations: Proven ability to manage human resources and business practices within a structured union environment.
- Certifications: Must possess or be able to obtain a Fire Card and Assault Response Competency (ARC).
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Advanced Education: Master’s Degree highly preferred.
- Specialized Knowledge: Prior management experience in Admitting, Authorizations, and Case Management concurrent review.
- Technical Expertise: Experience in charge capture, observation calculations, and large-scale vendor management.
- Environment: Prior experience working within a Community Hospital setting.
