SUMMARY:   


The nursing supervisor is responsible for assisting the Director / Manager in oversight of licensed nurses, medical secretaries, medical assistants, as well as regular Registered Nursing duties when required.  The nursing supervisor directs, supports, and guides staff on expectations, policies and standard operating procedures, and required training.  The nurse supervisor maintains rapport throughout the organization with all employees and assists in mediating resolutions when issues arise.  The nurse supervisor acts as a leader and role model through committee contributions, providing feedback and reviews of performance, problem solving, and ensuring adequate supports are in place for and efficient and positive work environment.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 Primary Responsibilities

3.      Objectivite in assessing the importance or emergence of a situation and taking appropriate and rapid action

4.      Able to analyze information and problems in order to formulate logical conclusions and take appropriate action

5.      Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team to support both organizational and patient health safety goals

6.      Has skills in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with all staff members

7.      Exhibits caring, empathy, and professionalism when interacting with others along with giving constructive feedback and facilitating crucial conversations

8.      Has skills in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are rapid changes in the work load, along with the ability to meet deadlines as requested

9.      Able to handle sensitive materials, maintain confidentiality and discretion as to disposition and/or release of data

10.  Assists in interviewing and hiring decisions for the nursing department

11.  Frequently monitors current staff performance, and enhances individual needs as required to meet competancy standards

12.  Demonstrates expertise in nursing foundation and skill set to be utilized on a daily basis as needed

13.  Able to manage rapid changes in workflow14.  Has working knowledge in using Microsft Word, Excel, and  Email

    


Specific Areas of Responsibilities



  1. Accountable for demonstrating the qualities outlined in the “Customer Service Standards of Excellence” program when interacting with patients, their families and friends, and fellow employees

  2. Works closely with all members of the management team in coordination Clinic process improvements when necessary to promote organization growth

  3. Demonstrates behaviors that promote a positive work environment

  4. Assures that pertinent information is effectively communicated to staff and management

  5. Provides direct clinical education and software support to new and established staff  

  6. Manages and updates reports as requested by DON and/or Nursing Manger

  7. Assesses the needs for employee supervision to meet clinical guidelines and safety policies and procedures

  8. Other duties as assigned


BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:


Education, Experience Equivalent to:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an approved school of Registered Nursing or Licensed Vocational Nursing
  • Unrestricted license/compact license to practice in the State of Texas
  • BLS/ACLS Certified


Skills and Abilities



  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Able to use analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem solving.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Able to stand at least 75% of the time;
  • Able to sit, walk, carry 50 lbs., push, pull, reach, handle, bend, kneel, crouch;
  • Has manual and finger dexterity;
  • Able to speak and hear;
  • Has near visual acuity;
  • Able to speak English fluently;
  • Has color vision and depth perception;
  • Has full range of motion in back.
