What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Receivable Clerk position at Meco Inc of Augusta?
Employment Status:
Seasonal: part-time hours through December for training. Full-time hours after training starting in January. Contract will run 2-9 months.
Responsibilities:
- Invoicing: Process customer invoices and credit memos.
- Payment processing: Apply customer payments and refunds to the correct accounts.
- Account reconciliation: Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Collections: Monitor accounts for overdue payments and initiate collection efforts, which may include contacting customers and negotiating payment plans.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit weekly and monthly accounts receivable reports to management.
- Customer service: Address customer inquiries and resolve billing issues.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer contact information and financial records.
Required skills and qualifications
- Technical skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Accounting knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Soft skills: Excellent communication (both written and verbal), attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Experience: An Associate's degree or equivalent experience in accounting or finance is often preferred.
- Personal attributes: The ability to work independently, solve problems, and handle confidential information accurately.
Rate: $18-20/hr
Experience
- Proven experience in accounts receivable functions within a corporate accounting or public accounting setting.
- Strong familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or equivalent financial systems.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, account analysis, and journal entries accurately.
- Excellent analysis skills combined with proficiency in math and 10-key typing for efficient data entry.
- Effective negotiation skills paired with strong phone etiquette to manage client relationships professionally.
- Ability to adapt quickly to various financial concepts including revenue cycle management, governmental accounting practices, and non-profit accounting standards.
