Position Summary
Mecca Talent is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all day-to-day accounting operations for a growing manufacturing organization. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, managing the month-end close process, overseeing accounts payable, maintaining the general ledger, and supporting financial planning and operational decision-making.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing accounting, inventory and cost accounting, ERP systems, and financial reporting, along with the leadership skills to maintain effective internal controls and support continued business growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management
- Manage daily accounting operations in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the general ledger.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends and variances, and recommend improvements.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Accounts Payable
- Oversee the complete accounts payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
- Ensure purchasing activities align with approved budgets and operational requirements.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
Manufacturing Accounting & ERP Administration
- Support inventory accounting, manufacturing cost reporting, and cost control initiatives.
- Monitor inventory transactions and perform inventory reconciliations.
- Partner with production and operations teams to improve inventory accuracy and manufacturing performance.
- Assist with job costing and operational financial reporting.
- Manage ERP sales order processes and order management activities.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain financial records in accordance with company retention requirements.
- Support internal and external audits as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Manufacturing accounting
- Inventory accounting
- Cost accounting
- Financial reporting
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Experience overseeing accounts payable and purchase order functions.
- Proficiency with Sage ERP (Sage 100, Sage 300, Sage X3, or similar ERP platforms).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within metal fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or engineered products manufacturing.
- Experience with inventory management, job costing, and ERP implementation or optimization projects.
- CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 annually (based on experience)
