Temporary Research Assistant I, Murawala Lab

MDI Biological Laboratory
Bar Harbor, ME Temporary
POSTED ON 8/3/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/1/2026

The Murawala Lab at the MDI Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, is seeking a motivated, organized and enthusiastic Research Assistant to support ongoing research projects and contribute to the day-to-day operation of the laboratory. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining research experience before graduate or professional school, or for those seeking a long-term career in biomedical research.

The Murawala Lab at MDI Biological Laboratory investigates one of biology’s most remarkable abilities—the capacity of the axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) to regenerate complex organs and tissues, including limbs, tail, brain, spinal cord, and kidneys. Their research combines developmental biology, genetics, genomics, imaging, and bioengineering to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that enable regeneration and to identify why this ability is limited in humans. The Murawala Lab employs a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, including CRISPR-mediated transgenesis, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, whole-organ tissue clearing, and advanced mesoSPIM light-sheet microscopy. For more information about the Murawala Lab, please visit murawalalab.mdibl.org. Please note: this position does not offer visa sponsorship, including J-1 or H-1B visas.
