Sewer & Drain Laborer

About the Role: McVay is seeking a motivated and dependable Laborer to join our Sewer and Drain division. This entry-level position plays a crucial role in supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of sewer and drain systems. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, eager to learn, and capable of working in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

About Us: Established in Pittsburgh PA in 1977, a family-owned and operated business. Our mission is to provide customers with excellent service and various choices of heating and cooling equipment. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of sewer and drain systems under the guidance of experienced technicians.
• Perform manual labor tasks such as digging trenches, lifting heavy materials, and clearing job sites.
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and effectively.
• Help with setup and breakdown of work areas, including traffic control and safety barriers.
• Support inspections of sewer and drain lines using specialized equipment, including cameras and locators.
• Load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment for daily projects.
• Ensure job sites are kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 75 lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.  Candidates interested in attending company sponsored plumbing school will have an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing or sewer systems is a plus but not required.
• Experience operating hand tools, power tools, or heavy machinery is an advantage.
• Ability to drive vans, trucks and dump trucks required.  Ability to tow is an advantage.
