Director of Human Resources & Compliance
Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources & Compliance provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of all HR functions, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role leads talent strategy, employee engagement, and HR systems to position the University as an employer of choice.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with institutional priorities
- Partner with senior leadership to translate strategy into actionable HR initiatives
- Oversee HR policies, systems, and processes to support organizational effectiveness
Talent Management
- Direct recruitment, onboarding, retention, and employee development efforts
- Oversee workforce planning, position classification, and compensation strategies
- Support visa sponsorship processes for international employees
Employee Experience & Relations
- Provide guidance to leadership on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Foster a respectful and high-performing workplace culture
Training & Performance
- Oversee training, compliance education, and professional development programs
- Lead performance management processes to support employee growth and accountability
- Benefits & Payroll Oversight
- Ensure competitive, compliant benefits and compensation programs
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title IX, etc.)
- Serve as liaison with legal counsel on employment and regulatory matters
- Oversee required reporting (e.g., IPEDS, compliance surveys)
- Support institutional compliance with Title IX and related regulations
- Oversee training, reporting, and coordination with Title IX leadership
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- 7 years of progressive HR leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Excellent communication, judgment, and confidentiality
Preferred
- Master’s degree
- Higher education experience
- PHR/SPHR certification
