Major/Essential Duties for the Simulation Center Manager:

Daily operations of the simulation center.

  • Collaborate with Simulation Coordinator and Assistant Dean to oversee the daily operations of the Simulation Center, including scheduling, equipment, and resource management.
  • Develop, implement and manage the Simulation Center’s room/lab schedule in collaboration with the Simulation Coordinator, program faculty, and according to program needs and teaching assignments.
  • Collaborate with program leadership and university stakeholders to organize special events in the Simulation Center using the university’s scheduling and communication platforms.
  • Assist with recruiting events such as student visits, showcase events, and other enrollment-related needs.
  • Collaborate with the university and PHSSN administration to train and supervise student workers assigned to the Simulation Center.
  • Perform safety and operational instructions and procedures according to university policies, equipment contracts, and best practice standards.
  • Ensure adherence to Simulation Center safety and operational procedures in accordance with established policies and best practice standards.
  • In collaboration with the Simulation Coordinator and faculty, create, maintain, upgrade, and supervise the Standard Operating Procedures and associated Work Instructions of the McMurry Simulation Center.
  • Manage the utilization of the Simulation Center and its equipment to the fullest capacity required for meeting program and university outcomes.
  • Liaise with Hendrick Health Security personnel as needed.

Management of simulation technology, lab supplies, and equipment.

  • Manage setup, usage, and post-usage processes for simulation of equipment and supplies.
  • Set up and take down workstations and simulation learning materials as per the instructors’ assignments.
  • Maintains parts and supplies, repairing or arranging for the repair and maintenance of simulation equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Dean’s Office, McMurry Facilities, and Hendrick Health to ensure the integrity of the Simulation Center physical plant.
  • Coordinate with the Assistant Dean, Simulation Coordinator, and Dean’s Office to support the purchase and procurement of necessary materials, equipment, and supplies as needed for simulation learning experiences.
  • Maintain inventory of stock materials, ordinary supplies, and as-needed supplies.
  • Maintain the equipment maintenance records, general records, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with McMurry IT and equipment and software vendors to maintain computer and software updates for simulation equipment and multimedia equipment, managing simulation software installation and troubleshooting issues as they arise within the Simulation Center.
  • Perform simple repairs and maintenance of equipment to ensure good working order.
  • Maintain and repair simulation equipment in accordance with warranty requirements.
  • Communicate with vendor support to address equipment issues
  • Communicate with McMurry IT regarding necessary repair and/or replacement computer needs in the Simulation Center.

Collaboration with Simulation Coordinator and faculty to support curriculum integration and clinical excellence.


  • Assist instructors with usage of computers, software, simulation programs, and multimedia equipment relative to simulation experiences.
  • Work with students and staff for training in the proper and safe operations of the Simulation Center equipment.
  • Manage and support the operation of debriefing technology.
  • Provide support for activities and reports required for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the Texas Board of Nursing, SACSCOC, the university, and other stakeholders as they pertain to Simulation Center activities.
  • Provide feedback for improving simulation experience.
  • Support faculty and program with achieving standards of best practice for simulation activities set by NCSBN and INACSL.
  • Utilize role and responsibilities as Simulation Center Manager to support faculty with meeting best practice standards for simulation activities in the following areas:
  • Simulation Design.
  • Outcomes and Objectives
  • iii. Facilitation
  • Debriefing
  • Participant Evaluation
  • Professional Integrity
  • vii. Interprofessional Education (IPE)
  • viii. Simulation Operations

Student engagement

  • Create a welcoming, student-centered simulation environment that encourages active participation, confidence-building, student success, and engagement.
  • Support student engagement in simulation activities by providing operational support, ensuring that learning sessions are well-prepared, smoothly executed, free of disruption, organized, and conducive to hands-on learning.
  • Reinforce a psychologically safe environment where students feel comfortable practicing skills, asking questions, and learning from mistakes.
  • Collaborate with faculty to support the delivery of simulation experiences that enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Orient students to simulation equipment, space, and expectations to promote effective participation in simulation activities.
  • Support student access to simulation resources for practice, remediation, and skill reinforcement as directed by faculty.
  • Encourage student responsibility, professionalism, and respect for shared learning spaces and equipment.
  • Engage with prospective students to showcase PHSSN, its facilities, the Simulation Center, and the university.
  • Support faculty in collection of student feedback related to simulation experiences to support program improvement.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the simulation center to enhance the overall student learning experience.

Required Education & Experience:


  • High School Diploma or GED, some college required.
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology and clinical nomenclature.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to balance competing demands and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to execute job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to function efficiently and meet frequent deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new technology and adapt to new skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent teamwork skills.

Preferred:


  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of responsible experience preferred in technology support, sales, customer service, health-related fields or other customer facing role such as education.
