GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Recruiter promotes and represents McLennan Community College to prospective students through outreach, events, and community engagement. This role guides students through the enrollment and registration process and provides support to Highlander Central and the High School Pathways office. This position receives general direction from the Coordinator of Recruitment & Highlander Central and exercise no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:
Knowledge of: 1. Standard computer applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related office software; 2. The college admissions, recruitment, and enrollment processes; 3. Modern technologies, digital communication tools, and social media platforms used for outreach; 4. McLennan Community College programs, resources, and the Recruiter’s role in connecting students to appropriate opportunities; 5. Federal, state, and local policies affecting admissions and student records (e.g., FERPA); 6. Common applications and systems used in the enrollment process (FAFSA, TASFA, CRM systems, etc.); 7. High school pathways, dual credit processes, and early college initiatives; Skills in 8. Communicating clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing; 9. Public speaking, presenting, and engaging effectively with audiences of varying sizes; 10. Organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks under time-sensitive deadlines; 11. Interpreting data, identifying trends, and drawing sound conclusions to support recruitment strategies; 12. Collaborating effectively within a team while also working independently with minimal supervision; 13. Basic budgeting, documentation, and recordkeeping; 14.Creating positive first impressions, engaging prospective students and families, and offering warm, clear communication that supports enrollment success; Ability to: 15. Deliver exceptional customer service when working with diverse student populations and community groups; 16. Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with students, families, school partners, and college personnel; 17. Guide students through the full enrollment process, including assisting dual credit students using critical thinking and problem-solving; 18. Adapt to changing priorities, environments, and student needs during outreach and recruitment activities; 19. Travel locally for recruitment events and represent the college professionally; 20. Learn and navigate multiple software systems and databases used in admissions and advising; 21. Work evenings, weekends, and occasional extended hours as recruitment activities require.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience: More than one year of relevant work experience
Special Requirements: Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license. Must be insurable and maintain insurability under the College's automobile insurance policy.
