McCombs Steel Company has a long history in Statesville, NC as an AISC certified steel fabrication company. This will be an hourly position.
**This is a first shift position with 11 hour shifts from 6am - 5pm. Potential for overtime on a regular basis. CURRENTLY WORKING 60 HOUR WEEKS DUE TO PRODUCTION SCHEDULE**
Job Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle
- Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
- Feed raw materials or parts to semi-automated machines
- Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools, ensuring conformance with shop drawings and AISC standards
- Test operation of machines periodically
- Fix issues that might occur during the shift
- Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
- Load, unload, stack, and discard of structural steel materials onto/off conveyors, tables, and pallets by hand or by using material handling equipment (e.g. overhead cranes)
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Qualifications & Skills
- Prior relevant experience with CNC machinery strongly desired.
- Ability to drive a forklift preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
- Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Keen attention to detail to identify maintenance, product or operations issues.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings.
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand or perform repetitive movements for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to read a tape measure required.
- Must possess strong work ethic.
- Must be a team player.
- High school diploma or GED required.
