Forklift Operator/Material Handler

We are currently seeking a skilled Forklift Operator/Material Handler to join our team. This individual will be primarily responsible for loading and unloading structural steel materials as well as other miscellaneous items. You will operate a forklift with a great deal of precision and safety. The ideal candidate will also have good hand-eye-foot coordination, good sense of balance, ability to judge distances, heights, and great attention to detail. Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon the season. Knowledge of the shapes, sizes and weights of structural steel is essential.

**This is a first shift position with 11 hour shifts from 6am-5pm. Potential for overtime on a regular basis depending on production schedule. Pay based on experience.**

Job Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description, other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.

• Store and stack structural material in proper places in warehouse and yard.
• Transport structural steel to and from fabrication stations.
• Load and unload structural steel from trailers using forklift trucks and other material handling equipment.
• Checking loads are secure.
• Dumping structural materials into hoppers.
• Examining structural material to verify conformance to AISC quality standards.
• Sort, stack, wrap, tie, and label products as per AISC procedures.
• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory.
• Record information regarding movements of supplies, materials and finished products by use of an electronic device.
• Clean work area and equipment regularly by removing empty pallets, wood, and plastics.
• Follow company standards and legal regulations to ensure a safe and positive work atmosphere.
• Maintain forklift equipment by performing bi-weekly inspections and submitting maintenance requests when necessary

Qualifications & Skills:

• Ability to drive a forklift required.
• Ability to read a tape measure required.
• Ability to regularly sit on a forklift.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work in a dusty environment.
• Ability to follow instructions for operating equipment and execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
• Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand or perform repetitive movements for long periods of time.
• High school diploma or GED required.
