RESPONSIBILITIES

The Accounting Assistant’s primary responsibility is performing daily task related to the verification and processing of our financial information. The ideal candidate must possess high attention to detail with a strong mathematical aptitude to ensure accuracy. Responsibilities include auditing and reconciling daily bank transactions and monthly statements, recording financial transactions ensuring accurate ledgers and journals, and reporting and correcting any discrepancies. Additional duties include assisting in accounts payable and with weekly payroll, preparation of sales and use tax and heavy highway use reports, as well as performing general office duties. The Accounting Assistant must be able to work in a team environment to establish positive working relationships with various departments to ensure efficient accounting processes and business operations. They must also have the ability to adapt to various computer programs and office machines with training.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree in accounting preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in payroll or accounting related field preferred.
• High level of accuracy, confidentiality, attention to detail, and organization skills.
• Ability to establish priorities to complete work within scheduled deadlines.
• Ability to take directives from a variety of people and departments for efficient operations.
• Independent judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to problem solve.
• Demonstrated dependability and trustworthiness with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (both general and technical).
