Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, conscientious, and experienced Tax Accountant to join our professional team. The ideal candidate will possess trong expertise in tax preparation, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis. This role involves managing complex tax filings, ensuring adherence to GAAP and SOX standards, and providing strategic tax planning advice. The Tax Accountant will play a vital role in supporting our organization’s financial health through accurate reporting and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Duties
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations.
- Conduct detailed tax research related to estate planning, securities law, and other relevant areas.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX requirements, and regulatory reporting standards.
- Perform financial statement review and support staff with balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
- Report accounts payable, payroll processing, and accounts receivable as needed to appropriate departments.
- Analyze financial data to identify tax savings opportunities and ensure accurate account reconciliation.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or other financial software for bookkeeping and financial analysis.
- Utilize tax preparation software, especially Ultra tax for tax preparation and planning.
- Review detailed financial reports prepared by support staff, including analysis of financial concepts like debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and asset management strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws affecting estate planning, private equity investments, non-profit accounting, and other specialized areas.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or EA certification strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting with a focus on tax experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, regulatory reporting, and financial statement interpretation.
- Experience with various accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, UltraTax or similar platforms.
