Position Overview
MBI Health Services is seeking an experienced Outreach, Marketing & Enrollment Specialist responsible for expanding community partnerships and increasing enrollment into MBI behavioral health programs.
This position will focus primarily on developing referral relationships that increase member enrollment at the West Hollywood site, while also supporting referral partnerships for the Downtown Los Angeles (Skid Row) clinic.
The Outreach, Marketing & Enrollment Specialist will build strong working relationships with organizations and providers that encounter individuals in need of mental health and substance use services but may not provide those services themselves.
Equally important, this role is responsible for supporting the retention and engagement of members referred through outreach efforts, ensuring that individuals who enroll remain connected to services and continue receiving care.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity Outreach & Partnership Development
Develop and maintain strong referral relationships with organizations and professionals that regularly encounter individuals in need of behavioral health services, including:
- Case Managers
- Social Workers
- Outreach Teams
- Sober Living Homes
- Residential Treatment Facilities
- Inpatient Hospitals and Detox Programs
- Probation and Parole Officers
- Judges and Court Programs
- Mental Health and Substance Use Providers that do not offer outpatient services
- Private Practice Providers
- Primary Care Physicians
- Housing Providers and Transitional Housing Programs
- Community-Based Organizations
- Faith-Based Organizations
Conduct regular in-person visits to partner agencies to educate them about MBI services and referral processes.
Marketing & Program Promotion
Promote MBI services throughout the community by:
- Conducting provider outreach visits
- Attending behavioral health networking events
- Participating in community resource fairs
- Presenting MBI services at partner meetings
- Distributing marketing materials and brochures
- Educating providers about MBI’s Immediate Access to Services model
Ensure referral partners understand how quickly MBI can connect their clients to care.
Enrollment Development
Support the enrollment pipeline by:
- Identifying individuals in need of mental health or substance use services
- Coordinating referrals with MBI intake staff
- Facilitating warm handoffs from partner agencies
- Helping schedule intake appointments
- Tracking referrals and enrollment activity
- Following up with referral partners regarding outcomes
Member Retention & Engagement
In addition to recruiting new members, this role is responsible for supporting retention of members referred through outreach efforts.
Retention duties include:
- Maintaining contact with referral partners regarding their clients
- Following up with newly enrolled members to encourage continued participation
- Helping members reconnect to services if appointments are missed
- Supporting staff with re-engagement of members who disengage from treatment
- Ensuring members referred through outreach remain actively connected to services
- Encouraging participation in therapy, groups, and psychiatric services
- Helping resolve barriers to care such as transportation or scheduling challenges
Strong retention practices help ensure members receive consistent treatment and remain engaged in the program.
Community Engagement
Represent MBI within the community by:
- Attending community meetings
- Participating in outreach events
- Engaging in street outreach when appropriate
- Building visibility for MBI services throughout Los Angeles County
- Supporting events that increase awareness of behavioral health services
Primary Service Area
The primary focus of this role is expanding enrollment at the West Hollywood clinic, including building partnerships with:
- Local healthcare providers
- LGBTQ community organizations
- Housing programs
- Community-based service providers
- Behavioral health professionals
The Outreach Specialist will also support partnerships that generate referrals for the Downtown Los Angeles (Skid Row) site, which serves individuals experiencing homelessness and high behavioral health needs.
Transportation Requirement
Because this position requires frequent travel throughout Los Angeles County to visit partner agencies and attend outreach events, candidates must have reliable transportation.
Requirements include:
- Valid California driver’s license
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Ability to travel daily within Los Angeles County
- Comfort conducting outreach in community settings
Success in this role requires being present in the community and building face-to-face relationships with referral partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years experience conducting outreach, marketing, or community engagement for a Mental Health or Substance Use Disorder program
- Experience developing referral partnerships within the behavioral health system
- Knowledge of behavioral health services in Los Angeles County
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills
- Strong communication and presentation abilities
- Ability to work independently in community settings
- Reliable transportation required
