Our organization operates regional campuses and offices across multiple locations, providing vital support to foster families and children to foster healing and growth.
The Community Enrichment/Outreach Services Specialist is responsible for providing enrichment services designed to support at-risk youth, young adults and returning citizens who are either part of a diversion program, transitioning back into society from incarceration, or navigation out of the school system to the City of St. Louis. The Community Enrichment/Outreach Services Specialist will provide a holistic suite of services, including mentorship, skill development, and community reintegration support. The Specialist will also lead outreach efforts for the Community Enrichment Services Program. Outreach efforts will include increasing the presence of the efforts of the CES program and to increase mentor partnerships within the St. Louis community. The mission is to improve community quality of life and enhance educational and economic opportunities. The Community Enrichment/Outreach Services Specialist is responsible for modeling Christ-like behavior, teamwork, collaboration and trauma-informed care.
- Implement the recruitment plan for CES and its mentoring program and develop further to ensure that it meets the targeted goals of Community Enrichment Services in the region.
- Employ a strength-based approach throughout the case management process, working in partnership with the participant to build on the participant’s strengths.
- Employ the trauma-informed model, TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention), principles of connection, empowerment and correction to address attachment needs, physical needs and fear-based behaviors.
- Provide participant orientation, case management (including assessment), the ISP, the core services and program activities identified herein for each participant for up to a six (6) month period.
· Provide personalized, consistent, and documented case management and support to all s throughout their reentry, diversion or transition processes.
· Collaborate with church Engagement staff and community partners to increase program visibility and recruit mentors for participants.
· Consult with MBCH’s marketing firm in developing marketing tools and resources to support the message (e.g. radio, social media, local newspapers etc.).
· Facilitate and conduct regular check-ins with each participant, using face-to-face, with specific frequency and duration defined in the Individual’s Service Plan. These check-ins shall provide evidence-based guidance on goal setting, life skills coaching, and emotional support.
· Document all mentor-participant and case manager-participant interactions in a centralized, secure, and confidential case management system. Furthermore, the Specialist shall assist participants with navigating and accessing social service systems, including housing, employment, and educational services, by actively coordinating with the state agency’s core benefit services and other relevant community resources.
· Establish and follow documented procedures, approved by the state agency, for the systematic and participant-centered step down of services as participants achieve stability, ensuring a successful and sustainable transition to natural support systems within the community.
- Employ specialized support services: Life Skills Coaching, Family and Reunification Support, Child Support Guidance, System Navigation Assistance
- Present the needs at churches, faith-based collaboratives, community events, schools and clubs
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, licensing regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with Church Engagement staff, Community Counseling Services, Department of Corrections, Department of Social Services, Educational Partners, and Outreach Manager.
- Make counseling referrals as necessary.
This position is a hybrid position. Specialist will not serve more than 15 participants at a time while working with other agencies, churches, etc. to increase the presence of the CES program within the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
- · Associate’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Public Administration, or a related field.
· Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with vulnerable populations and ideally with justice-involved individuals. The Case Manager(s) personal or professional experience with reentry challenges may be considered.
· Minimum of two (2) years’ experience, though three (3) to five (5) years is preferred, supporting at-risk youth, young adults, and returning citizens who are either part of a diversion program, transitioning back into society from incarceration, or navigating out of the school system.
· One (1) year of experience, though three (3) to five (5) years is preferred, in programs that serve at-risk youth, young adults and returning citizens.
· Highly desired to have two (2) years’ experience providing a holistic suite of services that include mentorship, skill development, and community reintegration support
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· High level of computer literacy
