Role: LPN Corrections
Location: Multiple Locations in Virginia.
Shift: Days/Nights
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories to determine immediate and long-term care needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments when applicable.
- Manage acute pain cases, perform wound suturing, and provide emergency interventions using aseptic techniques to prevent infection.
- Document all patient interactions meticulously within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, including discharge planning and case management for long-term care or hospice patients.
- Monitor infectious disease control protocols and ensure adherence to CDC guidelines for infection prevention within the correctional setting.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, radiology procedures like CT scans or sonography, and facilitate referrals for specialty care including cardiology or ophthalmology when necessary.
Experience
- Proven nursing experience in acute care settings such as hospitals, ICU, trauma centers (Level I or II), or emergency medicine environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks; experience with ICD coding (ICD-9/10) is highly desirable.
- Background working with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities, memory care needs, geriatrics, behavioral health issues, or those requiring specialized chronic disease management such as dialysis or ostomy care.
- Critical care experience involving ventilator management, airway management, or PICU responsibilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law and experience managing related cases is advantageous.
- Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and medical documentation standards across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Additional experience in areas such as occupational health, home & community care, hospice & palliative medicine, or assisted living environments will strengthen your application.
