Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) care to join our vibrant healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in a medical-surgical setting, including assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medication administration.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Perform complex procedures including IV insertion, suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile dressing changes following aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with patient needs and clinical protocols.
- Monitor for signs of acute pain or deterioration, initiating appropriate interventions such as pain management strategies or triage assessments.
- Conduct patient education on medication regimens, post-discharge instructions, and health coaching to promote recovery and wellness.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical records in accordance with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements.
Experience
- Proven experience working in hospital medicine or acute care environments such as ICU, Emergency Room, or Level I/II Trauma Centers.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Critical care experience including ventilator management, airway management, and infectious disease care is highly desirable.
- Skilled in performing diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection/processing and sonography as needed.
- Familiarity with specialized areas like cardiology (cardiac catheterization), nephrology (dialysis), ophthalmology (Botulinum toxin treatment), geriatrics (Memory Care & Long Term Care), behavioral health, hospice & palliative medicine, trauma medicine, pediatric and neonatal care is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays enhances your ability to provide compassionate patient-centered care across diverse populations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology including ICD-9/10 coding and CPT coding ensures accurate documentation for billing and reporting purposes.
