Welding Quality Assurance Specialist

As a Welding Quality Assurance Specialist, you will serve as a technical authority ensuring all fabrication meets rigorous industry standards. You will leverage your expertise in AWS codes and metallurgical principles to drive quality excellence, mentor welding staff, and optimize production integrity.

• Draft and manage Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Reports (PQR) to ensure full regulatory compliance.
• Perform comprehensive visual and dimensional inspections of weldments to verify structural integrity and adherence to blueprints.
• Evaluate welder performance on the shop floor, providing constructive feedback to improve technique and consistency.
• Lead internal welding audits and process evaluations, identifying root causes for defects and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver training programs to certify personnel to internal quality standards.
• Maintain precise documentation and certification records for all welding staff and procedures.
• Review complex contract documents and technical specifications to ensure fabrication meets all project requirements.

Required Skills

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in interpreting and authoring welding documentation.
• Advanced proficiency in reading and applying complex blueprints and layout drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and lead cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong technical writing skills for preparing detailed inspection reports and correspondence.

Preferred Skills

• Expertise in MS Office, particularly for data analysis and quality reporting.
• Proven track record in facilitating group training or technical workshops.
• Experience with AAR or similar heavy industry regulatory frameworks.
