Tooling Technician

As a Tooling Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the operational efficiency of our injection molding department. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and precision modification of complex mold tooling, directly impacting our production quality and output consistency.

• Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance, including disassembly, cleaning, and inspection of intricate mold components.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mold-related issues, distinguishing between process, machine, and tooling-specific failures.
• Fabricate and repair custom cores, cavities, and specialized components using manual mills, lathes, and grinders.
• Collaborate with process technicians to verify accurate mold installation and optimal operational performance.
• Maintain precise dimensional conformance by interpreting blueprints and utilizing advanced measurement tools.
• Manage spare tooling inventory and coordinate with external vendors for specialized services.
• Operate overhead cranes and shop equipment while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent with a Journeyman Tool and Die certificate.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in injection mold maintenance and modification.
• Strong proficiency in manual machining, including mills, lathes, and drill presses.
• Deep understanding of injection molding processes and material characteristics.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude with high-level math skills for precise measurements.
