Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Route Sales Representative to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a book of business and providing exceptional customer service. Based in Ames and servicing our customers in our expanding Central Iowa territory. Territory including Des Moines, Ames, Fort Dodge, Mason City, and surrounding areas. Customers include c-store, grocery, liquor stores, smoke shops, and other independent locations. We are a DSD distributor servicing the beverage, snack, candy, tobacco, vape, and nicotine pouch categories - with over 5,000 items in our warehouse. Grocery vendor or management experience a plus for this role. Base pay plus commissions pay structure.
Responsibilities
- Drive along assigned routes/territory to sell products to customers, open new accounts, and provide great customer service.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding product offerings, promotions, and pricing.
- Utilize upselling techniques to maximize sales opportunities during each visit.
- Maintain accurate records of prospects and customer interactions via company communication tools.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures while adhering to safety regulations.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly to maintain high service standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sales or customer service is preferred, with a focus on grocery sales being a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with customers.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and managing inventory levels.
- Ability to upsell products based on customer needs and preferences.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
