Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers using POS (Point of Sale) systems to process retail sales transactions accurately and efficiently
- Handle cash, credit card, and digital payments while maintaining a balanced cash drawer at all times
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
- Upsell products by suggesting additional items that complement customer needs, increasing sales opportunities
- Stock shelves and merchandise displays to ensure the store remains organized, attractive, and fully stocked
- Maintain proper phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely
- Support store operations through basic math calculations for transactions, discounts, or promotions while ensuring retail math accuracy
Requirements
- Previous cashiering experience in a retail or grocery store environment preferred; familiarity with POS systems is essential
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in bilingual settings (English and another language) is a plus
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership capabilities in a retail setting is advantageous
- Knowledge of retail store product details, merchandising techniques, and grocery store operations enhances performance
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions, discounts, and inventory management
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills to create positive interactions with shoppers
