Staff Accountant
As the Staff Accountant for a manufacturing company, you will take full ownership of key accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and standard costing. You will play a crucial role in managing payments for goods and services essential to the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring accuracy and efficiency within the Accounting/Finance Department.
Requirements of the Staff Accountant
- At least 3 years of experience in Accounting with knowledge of Sage 100 being a plus; a degree in Business Administration or Accounting is required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business materials, write clear correspondence, and effectively present information to management, peers, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email programs.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly general ledger accounts and their relation to invoices; ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to routinely interact with employees within the department and collaborate with other teams and external parties.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant
- Enter accounts payable invoices into the ERP system and create invoices for both domestic and international shipments.
- Perform reconciliations of accounts payable and prepare the monthly accruals for AP.
- Investigate and gather documentation for credit memos as they come in.
- Oversee prepayments and work with the Director of Accounting to ensure they are applied correctly.
- Process check requests, ensuring all required approvals are in place.
- Address issues with purchase orders and collaborate with the Supply Chain team to resolve them.
- Set up new vendors in the ERP system, including obtaining contact details, requesting W-9 forms, and determining if a 1099 needs to be issued at the end of the year.
- Ensure that any discrepancies related to supply chain purchase orders and receiving department issues are resolved promptly.
Full-Time, DIRECT HIRE
Pay is $75,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience
