Accounts Payable Specialist (Advanced Excel Required)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist with strong analytical capabilities and advanced Excel skills. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process while leveraging tools such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high-volume invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely entry into the accounting system
• Perform three-way matching (invoice, purchase order, receipt) and resolve discrepancies
• Manage vendor payments, including ACH, wire transfers, and check runs
• Maintain and reconcile AP subledger to the general ledger
• Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain strong vendor relationships
• Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and reporting
• Prepare and maintain AP aging reports and analyze trends
• Utilize advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas) to reconcile data, identify discrepancies, and generate insights
• Support audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor requests
• Identify opportunities to streamline AP processes and improve internal controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2 years of accounts payable experience in a high-volume environment
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with large datasets and data cleanup in Excel
• Exposure to automation tools or process improvement initiatives
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
