What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Lending Manager position at Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union?
PURPOSE Responsible for the strategic growth, quality, and profitability of the commercial lending portfolio. Provides leadership and coaching to the commercial lending team to deliver high-performing results while maintaining prudent credit standards and aligning with MVFCU’s member-first mission.
FUNCTIONS
• Provides leadership, coaching, and oversight for the commercial lending team while promoting MVFCU’s full range of products and services to members and businesses. Ensures staff deliver exceptional member experiences through responsive service, accurate information, and proactive business development.
• Responsible for developing and servicing a variety of commercial, construction, and Member Business Loans, calling on small business owners and realtors to provide advice and introduce companies to the services offered by the Credit Union.
• Administer and coordinate all commercial lending activities including soliciting, pre-screening, underwriting, negotiation and presentation of loan requests.
• Prepare competitive market surveys and recommend loan program and pricing modifications based on results.
• Identify current and potential new business lending products to determine changes and enhancements that would benefit the membership.
• Develop and manage profitability of the commercial loan portfolio with the assistance of additional Credit Union departments.
• Originate all commercial and Member Business Loans products in accordance with credit union policies including but not limited to:
o Operating Lines of Credit
o Vehicle and Equipment Term Loans
o Commercial and Investment Real Estate Loans
o Letters of Credit
o Construction and Development Loans
• Assist the Chief Lending Officer as assigned.

PREREQUISITES FOR THIS POSITION
• Minimum Education: A bachelor’s degree in finance or business preferred.
• Minimum Experience: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in construction, real estate and Commercial/ Business lending with management experience required.
• Working Conditions: Full-time, on-site position. Professional office setting with a collaborative atmosphere. Occasional travel may be required for meetings with members, partners, regulatory agencies and conferences. Availability for occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary during high-priority lending activities, business events, or special projects. May require prolonged periods of sitting, use a computer, or attend meetings. Minimal physical exertion required but may need to lift items up to 40 pounds.
