Director of Student Activities

Masters Academy International
Stow, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/7/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/11/2026

Masters Academy International

Masters Academy International (MAI) is New England’s only school that intentionally integrates professional-level athletic training with Tier 1 academics to prepare future leaders who excel in sport, scholarship, and life. Our students pursue ambitious goals on the field and in the classroom, and the residential experience is an essential part of that journey.

At MAI, the life students live outside the classroom is just as important as the work they do within it. A vibrant, well-designed residential life program builds community, supports well-being, and helps young people develop independence, leadership, and global awareness.

Role purpose

MAI seeks a Director of Student Activities to design and lead a dynamic residential life experience that enriches the lives of our student-athletes beyond the classroom and the playing field. This leader will shape the social, cultural, and recreational life of the campus, creating meaningful opportunities for connection, exploration, and leadership.

The Director of Student Activities is responsible for developing a comprehensive activities program that engages a diverse student body while strengthening community culture and supporting student well-being. This includes overseeing student clubs and leadership organizations, designing weekend and evening programming, developing unique campus traditions, and ensuring all activities are safe, inclusive, and well executed.

This role requires a creative program designer, an exceptional relationship builder, and a disciplined operational leader. The ideal candidate understands the rhythms of boarding school life and thrives in environments where community, mentorship, and student leadership are central to the mission.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Program Design & Campus Life

  • Design and implement a comprehensive program of evening and weekend activities that enrich the residential life experience for students.
  • Develop programming that reflects the diverse interests and cultural backgrounds of MAI’s student body.
  • Lead the planning and execution of major campus traditions and signature events, such as Spirit Weeks and year-end celebrations.
  • Build a vibrant weekend program that promotes engagement, exploration, and community while preventing “campus fatigue” among residential students.

Student Leadership & Club Development

  • Serve as the primary advisor to the Student Activities Board.
  • Mentor student leaders in project planning, leadership, governance, and responsible event management.
  • Design leadership development opportunities that build students’ confidence, communication skills, and sense of responsibility within the community.

Residential & Community Integration

  • Collaborate closely with the Residential Life staff, athletics leadership, and deans to create a holistic student experience.
  • Ensure student activities complement academic and athletic commitments while strengthening campus culture.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed, connected, and empowered to participate.
  • Serve as a visible and approachable presence within the residential community.

Operational & Financial Stewardship

  • Manage the student activities budget, ensuring funds are used strategically to deliver high-impact experiences.
  • Maintain and oversee the campus master activities calendar to ensure balanced scheduling across academics, athletics, and residential programming.
  • Coordinate logistics for activities and trips, including transportation, facility setup, and vendor partnerships.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of student activity spaces, equipment, and shared facilities.

Safety, Conduct & Risk Management

  • Ensure all activities and events comply with school policies, safeguarding standards, and safety protocols.
  • Review and approve off-campus activities and trips in coordination with residential leadership and operations teams.
  • Monitor student conduct at events and collaborate with residential deans to uphold school expectations.
  • Maintain a strong focus on student well-being, safety, and responsible decision-making during all activities.

Communication & Community Engagement

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with students, families, deans, faculty, and staff about upcoming programs and opportunities.
  • Partner with communications and admissions teams to highlight student life experiences and campus culture.
  • Serve as a liaison between student organizations and school leadership to ensure strong alignment and support.
  • Serve as a point of contact for boarding parents and guardians.
  • Ensure proactive, consistent communication regarding student well-being and residential programming.
  • Support orientation and training sessions for students and families.
  • Build high levels of parent satisfaction through transparency, responsiveness, and professionalism.

Who you are

  • You are deeply aligned with MAI’s values and committed to student well-being and character formation.
  • You are a creative program designer who enjoys building meaningful experiences for young people.
  • You are highly relational and comfortable working with a diverse, international student population.
  • You are organized and operationally strong, able to manage complex logistics and multiple events simultaneously.
  • You bring a calm, approachable presence and serve as a trusted mentor to students.
  • You thrive in collaborative environments and build strong partnerships with faculty, residential staff, and administrators.
  • You believe that student leadership and engagement are essential to building a healthy community.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in residential life, student activities, or student affairs within a boarding school, university, or similar residential environment.
  • Demonstrated success in designing student programming and managing events or extracurricular initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience developing student leaders and managing teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by residential programming.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in education, student affairs, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to live on campus and participate in the residential duty rotation strongly preferred.
