Job Summary

The Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a full-time SLP for our adult, inpatient team. The successful candidate will work on a team with 16 inpatient SLP’s and will provide swallowing, speech-language, and communication interventions to adults with complex medical, neurologic, oncologic, and surgical disorders in the acute care setting.

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is a 1000 bed, academic medical institution associated with Harvard Medical School. MGH is a Level 1 trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Quality Center, known as a leader in caring for patients with neurologic and neurosurgical disorders, complex medical conditions, oncology, orthopedics, and cardiovascular/ thoracic surgeries. We are looking for a speech pathologist who seeks to develop strong partnerships with patients, families, and interprofessional colleagues.

Education

Master's Degree Speech Therapy required

Licenses and Credentials

Master’s degree in Speech-language pathology/Communication disorders

MA State license, or eligibility for

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology [CCC-SLP] - American Speech Language Hearing Association

BLS Certification

Experience

speech pathology experience 1-2 years preferred; acute hospital experience 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Availability to work 4 x 10-hour days, including weekends.
  • Maintain variable work schedule depending on hospital/program needs to provide patient care.
  • Familiarity of diagnostic assessments for speech language.
  • Employee must have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures sufficiently to perform clinical services independently.
  • Ability to perform functions associated with contemporary audiology and speech-language pathology scope of practice.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of state standards, federal and state regulations.

Salary : $90,000 - $117,697
