The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately and timely processing payroll for employees of the District in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Mason Health supports a diverse workforce including clinical and non-clinical staff, represented and non-represented employees, and shift-based roles operating under complex pay structures. This position ensures payroll activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Washington State wage and hour laws, and applicable collective bargaining agreements. The Payroll Specialist works closely with Human Resources to maintain accurate employee data, apply appropriate pay practices, and is responsible for all payroll reporting, audits, and tax filings.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly/weekly payroll for hospital employees, including salaried, hourly, per diem, and contract staff.
Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, shift differentials, on-call pay, bonuses, and retroactive adjustments.
Apply and monitor compliance with union agreements as well as federal and Washington State wage and hour laws, including minimum wage, overtime, meal and rest period premiums, and paid leave requirements.
Reconcile payroll data, timekeeping systems, and benefits deductions to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
Administer payroll transactions related to new hires, terminations, job changes, and leaves of absence, including FMLA, Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML), medical, and military leave.
