Position Title: Supplier Quality Specialist
Location: Frankfort, KY
Reports To: Quality/Operations Leadership
JOB SUMMARY:
Manage and ensure the quality of purchased products by implementing and reinforcing quality standards in the raw materials receiving process and improving controls with suppliers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of the job include, but not limited to the following:
- Register and track complaints reported to suppliers.
- Ensure that supplier corrective actions are closed in a timely manner.
- Keep supplier quality documents up to date.
- Update containment procedures.
- Negotiate with suppliers regarding the sorting/return of materials.
- Supervise compliance with procedures by incoming inspection auditors.
- Carry out product containment for in-process and finished goods due to external complaints.
- Define method to identify the 100% certified materials.
- Implement 5S in the area.
- Follow up on the area risk matrix.
- Monitor and update process turtles in the area.
- Track Process KPI.
- Conduct supplier audits (onsite and remote)
- Manage supplier scorecards.
- Support product release to suppliers.
- Assist in release runs with suppliers.
- Follow up on supplier certification plans to ensure compliance.
- Administer supplier certificates.
- Responsible for the hold area for purchased materials/products.
- Manage inspection controls for receiving product and raw materials.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and corporate/customer requirements.
- Monitor the quality of purchased products using SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Responsible for training and development of incoming inspection inspectors.
- Supplier PPAP approval.
- 4M Change Supplier approval.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Internal Audits support.
- Compliance with Environmental standards ISO 14001, corporate / client requirements.
- All other duties assigned by management.
- Support training for end users.
AUTHORITY & RESPONSABILITIES:
This position has the authority to stop production processes if they identify non-conformance or issues with purchases products/ raw materials. This includes stopping the process during the launch of a new product if necessary.
AREA SCOPE:
1. Suppliers Quality Assurance.
2. Incoming Inspection.
3. APQP-PPAP Supplier.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: Incoming Inspector(s).
COMPETENCIES:
- Competencies based on the Hay Grade and Competency Level above.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar
- 2 years’ experience in Manufacturing Sector. Automotive Quality Sector a plus.
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in supplier quality assurance.
- AIAG Core Tools knowledge (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, CONTROL PLAN, MSA, SPC).
- Technical interpretation of IATF 16949 standard.
- IATF Internal Auditor Experience.
- Basic knowledge of engineering drawing interpretation (GD&T).
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience in IMDS entry a plus.
- Strong organizational/prioritization skills.
- Good analytical/problem solving skills.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
- ERP System JDE a plus.
