Manufacturing Manager
Job Summary: The Manufacturing Manager leads and manages the API manufacturing operations of an anesthetic agent manufacturing facility and oversees the technical aspects of day-to-day production operations for multiple product lines. Leadership and technical skills are a requirement for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure adequate safety reviews are completed for all projects and operational changes
- Recommend and implement ways to improve the safety of our operations
- Responsible to see that our lost time and OSHA recordable safety goals are met
- Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and RMP standards.
- Develop a culture of zero tolerance for recordable accidents
- Establish and maintain high standards is housekeeping
- Ensure company standards and regulatory requirements are met with respect to chemical exposures in the Bethlehem manufacturing facility
- Ensure company standards and regulatory requirements are met with respect to air, waste and water compliance in the Bethlehem manufacturing facility
- Work with other groups to minimize the discharge of hazardous pollutants through better management of processes and substitution of raw materials
- Responsible to see that production, cost, yield, safety, quality, environmental goals are achieved on all production processes and products.
- Oversee the technical aspects of day-to-day production operations for multiple product lines
- Oversee the troubleshooting of production, quality and equipment problems for all processes and products
- Identify, research, develop, implement and validate cost reduction programs for production and packaging.
- Directs, mentors, guides and assists the Production Supervisors to meet plant production goals
- Responsible to see that products are produced at budget
- Work to reduce operating costs by reducing downtime, increasing productivity and capacity, increasing yields, improving reaction/distillation performance and reducing raw material costs
- Determine training needs of the department and ensure that training is delivered on a timely basis
- Interface with other locations in the corporation to determine and implement best practices
- Implement operations excellence initiatives such as Six Sigma, TQM, 5 S, and Lean Manufacturing in partnership with the corporate groups
- Ensures the proper level of communication and feedback exists throughout the manufacturing organization using techniques such as visual factory postings, regular meetings with the plant associates, and regular meetings with the first line supervisions
- Guide and mentor the Production Supervisors, GMP Support Specialist and General Foreman
- Manage the Manufacturing Department through the Production Supervisors, Shift Supervisors and Chemical Operators
- Assist in annual budget preparation, the development of cost standards and other capital forecasts
- Serves as a technical advisor to Plant and Corporate Management
- Prepare written and oral reports to senior management
- Interface with Sales / Marketing, Regulatory and Quality as required
- Participate in regulatory and quality audits
- Conduct other tasks as required
- Establish and deliver KPI’s
- Be able to fill in for the Plant Manager in his absence.
Education/Experience
- BS/MS in chemical or mechanical engineering is mandatory.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in a CHEMICAL or API MANUFACTURING environment is MANDATORY.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supervising process engineers in a chemical or API manufacturing environment
- Minimum 5 years of experience supervising manufacturing personnel
- The ability to work within a team environment, lending support to other manufacturing activities as required
- Experience with distillation and reactors highly desirable
- Experience with HHC such as chlorine and HF essential
- Broad and deep knowledge of many unit operations
- Thorough understanding of principles and practices of chemical & pharmaceutical manufacturing, cGMPs, utility systems
- Experience and formal training in Operations Excellence initiatives with Green Belt Certification desirable
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Experience with process control
- Ability to work in a Matrix Management system
- Demonstrated Project Management skills with the ability to establish and manage new product launches and capital projects in the range of $1 MM
- Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) is mandatory.
- Experience with performance management systems such as annual performance reviews to drive personnel development.
Salary : $135,000 - $150,000
