Position Summary
Marywood University seeks a student-centered and relationship-driven professional to serve as the Full-Time Specialist for Military & Veteran Services. This position coordinates programs, services, and resources that support military-connected students, including veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their dependents.
The Specialist serves as one of the University's School Certifying Officials (SCO) while supporting student success through outreach, recruitment, retention, compliance, and community engagement. The successful candidate will be passionate about helping students navigate their educational journey and fostering a welcoming campus environment for those who have served.
Essential Responsibilities
Student Support & Success
- Serve as the primary resource and advocate for military-connected students.
- Provide individualized support, guidance, and referrals to campus resources.
- Coordinate initiatives that promote student engagement, persistence, retention, and graduation.
Veteran Benefits & Compliance
- Serve as one of the University's School Certifying Officials (SCO).
- Certify enrollment and administer VA educational benefits.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and Department of Veterans Affairs regulations and reporting requirements.
Recruitment & Outreach
- Collaborate with Admissions and campus partners to support recruitment efforts for military-affiliated students.
- Represent the University at military, veteran, and community events.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with military organizations, veteran service agencies, and community stakeholders.
Programming & Engagement
- Coordinate programs and events that recognize and celebrate military-connected students.
- Promote awareness of military and veteran issues across campus.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for military-affiliated students.
Assessment & Collaboration
- Track student participation and success outcomes to inform program improvements.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to enhance services and remove barriers to student success.
- Participate in divisional and institutional initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience in student services, military/veteran support, enrollment management, community outreach, or a related field.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Experience serving military-connected populations.
- Experience as a School Certifying Official (SCO) or familiarity with VA educational benefits.
Job Schedule:
