Summary of Duties: The Graduate Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting and enrolling prospective graduate students while delivering exceptional customer service throughout the admissions process. This position develops and implements recruitment strategies, manages an assigned recruitment territory, and guides prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment. The counselor cultivates relationships with prospective students, faculty, and campus partners; represents the University at recruitment events and outreach activities; and assists with the planning and coordination of graduate recruitment initiatives that support the University's enrollment goals.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective graduate students and their families throughout the admissions process.
- Meet and/or exceed enrollment goals for assigned academic programs.
- Provide guidance on admission requirements, application procedures, required documentation, and program options through email, phone, video conferencing, and other digital platforms.
- Review and evaluate applications to determine admission eligibility in accordance with university and program requirements.
- Collaborate with faculty, program directors, and campus partners to support graduate recruitment efforts through outreach, recruitment events, prospective student engagement, and personalized communications.
- Represent the university at recruitment events, graduate fairs, and virtual or in-person information sessions.
- Maintain accurate records and communications within the University's CRM system.
- Maintain current knowledge of graduate programs, admissions policies, accreditation standards, and higher education trends.
- Counsel admitted students on the next steps toward enrollment, including enrollment confirmation, registration procedures, orientation, and successful matriculation.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of graduate recruitment events and initiatives while receiving mentorship from the Assistant Director of Graduate and International Admissions.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required

- Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively with a team of admission professionals
- Provide excellent customer service to prospective students and their families
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Quick and effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement programs and projects related to enrollment goals
- A valid driver’s license
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time for recruitment events.
- Ability to lift and transport recruitment materials (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to cultivate an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
Preferred Experience
- Experience in higher education or graduate recruitment/student services.
- Familiarity with Slate or another higher education CRM.
- Prior involvement in recruitment travel, graduate fairs, or enrollment outreach.
