Adult Day Center Program Assistant

Job Information

The Adult Day Center at Mary Wade is looking for Program Assistants to assist Therapeutic Recreation Director and Adult Day Center Director with therapeutic recreation activities throughout client’s day.

Openings: 2 Positions: 20 to 29 hours per week: Ability to work during the day, into the evening and every other Saturday (if applicable)

Hourly Rate: $17.00

Job Responsibilities:

• Assists with therapeutic recreation of clients in ADC.
• Adheres to recreational goals and activities schedule set forth by TRD or ADC Activity Coordinator.
• Assists in the planning of therapeutic programs for Adult Day Center (ADC) clients.
• Assists in the planning of parties, crafts, exercise programs, baking, games and discussion groups to encourage re-socialization.
• Escorts, transports and protects ADC clients.
• Coordinates transportation services to ensure safe arrival and departure of clients.
• Assists clients in compliance with diets.
• Ensures newly admitted residents and families are comfortable and well informed.
• Gives clients baths and assist with dressing.
• Assists with toilet function.
• Assists with weighing clients as directed.
• Set-up and break-down meals and assists clients with feeding as needed.
• Assists Therapeutic Recreation Director and/or ADC Director with records of client’s progress, activities, problems and changes in condition and other documents as required.

Job Qualifications:

• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of the senior retirement community or healthcare setting  is required
• Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound decisions
• Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in a healthcare setting.
• Typing skills and computer knowledge.
• Prior MS Office experience, including Word and Excel.
• Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork with peers and other departments.
• Engages in positive customer service interaction with residents, families and visitors.
• Takes ownership of an error in delivery of service and works to correct the problem.
• Displays good attendance and is punctual.
• Ability to have positive communication, work ethics and teamwork with employees.
